Sonakshi Sinha was born on 2 June 1987. Her father is Shartrughan Sinha who was an erstwhile Bollywood star and is now a politician and he mother Poonam Sinha is a housewife. She has two brothers, Luv Sinha and Kussh Sinha.
Sonakshi was all set to become a fashion designer after have studied Fashion Designing at Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University in Mumbai, but fate had other plans for her. She was chosen by Salman Khan to star alongside him in his 2010 film Dabaang. The movie not only became a huge commercial success but also achieved a cult status.
Sonakshi’s debut film thus made her an overnight star. She was flooded with offers and went on to star alongside Akshay Kumar in Rowdy Rathore in 2012 and just like Dabaang, Rowdy Rathore too broke box-office records and became huge commercial success.
She then starred opposite Akshay Kumar once again in Shrish Kunder’s Joker in 2012. The movie was not only a huge commercial failure, but even its actors disowned it. Joker’s performance did not diminish Sonakshi’s popularity with filmmakers though. This was evidenced by the fact that she was once again chosen to star opposite Salman Khan in the sequel to Dabaang.
Dabaang 2 which released in December of 2012 was a continuation of the previous installment and managed to repeat its phenomenal run at the box-office. Although, the film revolves completely around Salman Khan, Sonakshi’s beauty and charm did not go unnoticed by the critics or the audiences. In fact it is often said that Sonakshi fits perfectly into the mould of the ideal Indian beauty.
For the future, Sonakshi has a number of big projects lined up like: Once Upon a Time Again, the sequel to Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera and Sajid Nadiawala’s Judwaa 2. Sinha has also been signed on for Prabhu Deva’s Namak opposite actor Shahid Kapoor.
