She made her debut with the Tamil film Thamizhan in the year 2002. Then in 2003 she made her Hindi film debut with the The Hero followed by Andaaz. Both the films were commercially successful. She next made Aitraz in 2004. Her character in the film had negative overtones and she received critical acclaim for her portrayal.
Priyanka then went on to act in a number of films, some of which were successful while others weren’t. Then in 2008 she starred in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’. Not only was the film a commercial success, but her acting in the film garnered a lot of praise from the critics. The accolades too weren’t far behind, as she received not only the Filmfare Best Actress Award for Fashion, but also the National Film Award for Best Actress.
Priyanka went on to then do roles, in which she could exhibit her acting chops to the audience. Not all her attempts were successful, but unlike her contemporaries she kept at it and once again hit the bull’s-eye in 2012 with her role in Barfi!
In fact, she even tried her hand at singing when in 2011, she signed a worldwide recording contract with Universal Music Group and DesiHits to record and release her first studio album. Her debut single, “In My City”, was released in September 2012 and was commercially successful in India.
Besides, she expresses her views through newspaper columns that she writes and is also actively involved in charity work. As far as her personal life is concerned, she maintains that she isn’t presently seeing anyone.
