Neha Dhupia was born on August 27 1980. Her father, Commander Pradip Singh Dhupia, served in the Indian Navy and mother, Manpinder, is a homemaker. She began her career with modeling and won the Femina Miss India title in 2002.
She made her debut in Hindi films with Qyamat: City Under Threat in 2003. The film did mediocre business at the box-office. She then starred in the film Julie and gained a lot of popularity, mainly because the movie and her role in it were considered bold.
Then in 2005 she starred in Sheesha, in which she played a double-role of twin sisters. The movie was again in the lines of Julie as far as being bold was concerned, but that did not help its box-office fate.
She then starred in films such as Kyaa Kool Hai Hum (2005) and Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), which did well at the box office, and also featured in a segment of the anthology film Dus Kahaniyaan (2007).
In the following years, Dhupia appeared in supporting roles in multiple critically and commercially acclaimed films including Chup Chup Ke (2006), Ek Chalis Ki Last Local (2007), Mithya (2008), Maharathi (2008), Singh Is Kinng (2008) and Dasvidaniya (2008). In 2011, she essayed the role of Eva Braun in the film Dear Friend Hitler -a film about Mahatma Gandhi.
Her most recent films are Paying Guest, Action Replayy, De Dana Dan and Pappu Can’t Dance Saala. She has also worked on her first international project with Chris Kattan in IFC’s Bollywood Hero. In 2012 she appeared in the film Kismat Love Paisa Dilli, Rush. She is slated to appear in a film called Unglee in the future. She is also planning to work on a sequel of Julie in the time to come.
