Lara Dutta was born on 16 April 1978. Her father is Wing Commander L.K. Dutta (retired) and her mother is Jennifer Dutta. She also has two elder sisters. She won the Miss Universe title in the year 2000. She began her career with modeling and after winning the Miss Universe title she went on to, debut in the 2003 film Andaaz. The movie was a commercial success and also won her the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award.
In the following years Lara starred in a number of commercially successful films like Masti (2004), No Entry (2005), Kaal (2005), Bhagam Bhag (2006), Partner (2007), Housefull (2010), Chalo Dilli (2011) and Don 2 (2011). The films helped establish her as a big Bollywood star, although they did nothing much in the way of showcasing her acting talents.
But, she made a wise move in producing Chalo Dilli herself, as the movie was a hit thanks to it being made on a modest budget. In the coming years we might see Lara producing more films, now that she has had a positive experience with Chalo Dilli.
Also, Don 2 as recently as 2011 was a huge success, so it still keeps her in the reckoning, although she hasn’t made any movies after that. The reason for her hiatus from films is that, she was pregnant.
Turns out, she and her husband Indian tennis star Mahesh Bhupati who she married in February of 2011 were going to have a baby. Lara declared this news in August of 2011. Then in January of 2012 Bhupathi via a networking site officially declared that Lara had given birth to a baby girl.
Lara has signed a new film called David, after her post-pregnancy break. The filming for David began on August of 2012 and it’s expected to be released in 2013. Besides Lara, the movie will also star Vikram, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Tabu & Isha Sharvani.
