Juhi Chawla was born on 13 November 1967. She is the daughter of Dr. S. Chawla and Mona Chawla. She won the Miss India Beauty Pageant in 1984. She made her Hindi film debut in 1986 with Sultanat.
But, it was Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in 1988, which made filmmakers get up and take notice. The movie was a huge critical and commercial success and helped catapult Juhi’s career in a big way. She subsequently starred in films like Darr (1993), Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993), Yes Boss (1997) and Ishq (1997).
All these films were huge commercial and critical successes and made her an actress to be reckoned with. In fact, in the 90s she ruled Bollywood with a couple of other top actresses and was considered by filmmakers to be a safe choice, if they wanted a box-office hit.
Then with the advent of the new millennium, she acted in films like Jhankaar Beats (2003), 3 Deewarein (2003), My Brother Nikhil (2005), Bas Ek Pal (2006) and I Am (2011). Each of these films was greatly appreciated by the critics, although they didn’t set the cash registers ringing. On the side Juhi has dabbled in film production and has even hosted and judged TV shows.
She also owns a cricket team along with Shah Rukh Khan called KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) which is a part of IPL (Indian Premier League). She is married to a British businessman Jai Mehta and they have two kids. In 2012 Juhi acted in two films Son of Sardar and Main Krishna Hoon.
Son of Sardar was a huge commercial success. In 2013 Juhi shall be seen in two Hindi films: the first one is a remake of the comedy Chasme Badoor and is being remade under the same name, the other is a film called Gulaab Gang.
