Jacqueline Fernandez was born on 2 June 1985. Her father is Sri Lankan and her mother is Malaysian. She is a Sri Lankan model who made her Hindi film debut with the Aladin in 2010. She has received an International Indian Film Academy Award for Best Female Debut and Stardust Award for Lux Exciting New Face for her role in Aladin. Before entering Bollywood, she had won Miss Sri Lanka Universe in 2006.
Unfortunately Aladin was panned by critics and by audiences. Then, in 2010 she once again acted alongside her Aladin co-star Ritesh Deshmukh in Jaane Kahan Se Ayi Hai. This movie too was panned by the critics and didn’t perform too well at the box office. She then made a cameo appearance in Sajid Khan’s Housefull in the song ‘Dhanno’ which was a big success, hence giving her positive recognition.
In 2011 she starred in Murder 2 where she starred alongside Emraan Hashmi. The movie was a box-office hit and at last Jacqueline tasted success in Bollywood, in the real sense of the word. Although, she isn’t considered to be the best actress around and her accent is still a bit of an issue, her beauty and her oomph makes for her other flaws, to quite an extent.
After Murder 2 she turned down a number of roles offered to her, because they were similar to her role in Murder 2. Also, she did not want to be branded only as a sex symbol. Due to scheduling conflicts she even had to turn down a movie like Krrish 3.
In 2012 she starred in Houseful 2 alongside a number of other big stars. The movie was a huge box-office success and helped bolster her career even further. In 2013 she starred in Race 2, which also did really well at the box-office.
Fernandez is next expected to appear in Vicky Singh’s Roy opposite actor Ranbir Kapoor along with an item number in Prabhu Deva’s Ramaiya Vasta Vaiya.
